Our Story and Philosophy
Angelo Architectural Associates was founded in 2003 by Mark Thiessen. Mark has 39 years of Architecture experience and 26 years as a licensed Architect in Iowa and Minnesota working in a broad range of architectural building types including schools, churches, office buildings, police and fire stations, assisted living facilities, multi-family and residential single family homes. Angelo Architectural Associates, LLC. can meet any clients architectural needs.
As a young man Mark worked for his father’s contracting business. His father’s expertise helped Mark understand how to construct buildings and stressed the importance of quality structures that endure. This influence stayed with Mark as a fundamental element of his design philosophy. As he began to study Architecture, Mark worked as a draftsman for a stone quarry, detailing stone for buildings all over the world. His childhood experience and stone quarry experience led Mark to complete his collegiate career with a thesis on the “Influences of Stone in Architecture”.
His thesis study led to his theory that great architecture must not only have good aesthetic design qualities, but must also be built to withstand the effects of time and nature. Great design, with long lasting, durable construction are the foundations for excellent architecture.
